WHY CHOOSE STAY AWHILE FOR MY KID’S PIERCINGS?

Our Piercers:

Choosing a reputable piercer at a licensed shop is the absolute safest way to get pierced. In our (semi biased) humble opinions, our piercers are the very best. Not only are our piercers highly experienced, Katie & Elizabeth are mom’s themselves and are more than patient and empathetic with kids who may be a little nervous to get their first piercings.

Both of our piercers are in shop together Friday-Sunday, so on those days we have the capability of piercing earlobes tandem at the same time (if desired) to eliminate having to go through the piercing process one ear at a time.

Our Jewelry:

Stay Awhile is one of the only shops in this area who uses implant grade titanium for their piercings, most other shops in our area use surgical steel for their piercings. While surgical steel is safe for many clients, it is a metal alloy, not implant grade and not safe for people who are extremely sensitive to metals as there are small traces of nickel.

Quality jewelry and safety are among our top priorities, so we carry internally threaded and threadless titanium and gold for piercings.

The Stay Awhile Experience:

Getting your first piercings should be not only a safe experience, but also a fun experience. It’s a memory that will be cherished by your child and family forever. We do our best to make sure your child’s experience is the best possible by having a clean aesthetic shop, comfortable seating, beverages, snacks and even a treasure chest for the little ones getting their first ear piercings.

Say No to Piercing Guns!

At Stay Awhile we strictly pierce with single use piercing needles. Needle piercings result in less tissue trauma, shorter healing time and an overall more hygienic piercing procedure versus any kind of piercing gun or hand pressure device. When piercing with piercing guns and hand pressure devices the earring is forcefully pushed through the tissue resulting in tearing and shattering of the tissue. You can read all about the dangers of those kind of devices on the association of professional piercers website. https://safepiercing.org/piercing-guns/

Preparing for the big day

Our piercings will always be with the child’s consent. If consent is withdrawn at any time, we will never force or allow a parent to force their child to get pierced. With that being said, we have found that incentives really go a long way to help kids conquer their fears. ie: “After we get your ears pierced we can go get ice cream!” etc. We find it helpful to let kids know that piercings do feel like a quick hard squeeze. In rare cases, there are kids who get very nervous and overwhelmed once they are in the room and in these cases, sometimes the child says say they aren’t quite ready, and then they leave and come back to the shop a couple hours or days later. We have had many kids leave without piercings their first visit to the shop, but never any kids who didn’t come back and end up pierced and happy. Some kids just need a little time to absorb the shop setting and process all the information before they are ready to get pierced.
